How to Unhide Photos on iPhone

Hid a photo and want it back? Unhiding on iPhone takes a few taps, once you know where the Hidden album lives.

How to unhide a photo

  1. Open Photos and tap the Albums tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom, to Utilities, and tap Hidden.
  3. Unlock it with Face ID or Touch ID (on iOS 16+ it's locked by default).
  4. Tap the photo, tap More (โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข), and choose Unhide. It returns to your library where it was.

To unhide several, tap Select, choose them, then โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข โ†’ Unhide.

Can't find the Hidden album?

If there's no Hidden album under Utilities, it's switched off from view. Turn it back on: Settings โ†’ Photos โ†’ Show Hidden Album. It reappears at the bottom of your Albums tab.

Where is the Hidden album on iPhone?

In the Photos app under the Albums tab. Scroll to the bottom to Utilities โ†’ Hidden. On iOS 16+ it is locked with Face ID.

Yes. Unhiding returns it to your main library in its original date position, as if it was never hidden.

Why can't I see my Hidden album?
